UFC 303 saw some very close fights as well as some show-stopping knockouts which would make the Las Vegas crowd go wild. Here are all the results as to what happened in the T-Mobile Arena.
Early Prelims
Ricky Simon vs Vinicius Oliveira (Bantamweight Bout) - Oliveira wins via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).
Lokdog increased his winning streak to four after displaying a rather dominant performance which would convince the judges to give him the decision. Oliveira was able to deal with the wrestling of Simon which was likely to be the main issue heading into the fight. The Brazilian may just be one fight away from the Bantamweight rankings, now that he had defeated a former contender.
Rei Tsuruya vs Carlos Hernandez (Flyweight Bout) - Tsuruya wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
Tsuruya's grappling was the main factor which would win him the fight after a competitive wrestling match with Hernandez. The Japanese fighter remains undefeated after a significant win on his UFC debut. Tsuruya will look to carry on his unbeaten record as he puts the other Flyweights on notice.
Andrei Arlovski vs Martin Buday (Heavyweight Bout) - Buday wins via Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27).
In a close fight with a lot of clinching, Buday would defeat the former UFC Heavyweight Champion after landing the better strikes in the fight. Badys redeemed his second-round TKO loss at UFC 296 as a win in the T-Mobile Arena was desperately needed. The Slovakian aims to get back in the Heavyweight rankings but may need to fight again for that chance as he came close with a 45-year-old.
Michelle Waterson-Gomez vs Gillian Robertson (Women's Strawweight Bout) - Robertson wins via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 20-26).
The Savage showed a dominant display for three rounds as she would comfortably get an unanimous decision win. The wrestling would work in Robertson's favour as Waterson-Gomez just could not compete on the ground. The Canadian moves up one spot in the Strawweight rankings as she looks to keep on rising. The Karate Hottie would officially retire from the sport after her defeat, she fought in the UFC and stayed in the Strawweight rankings since 2015
Preliminary card
Payton Talbott vs Yanis Ghemmouri (Bantamweight Bout) - Talbott wins via KO (R1, 0:19).
It was very quick work for Talbott as he earned his first one-round stoppage win after knocking out Ghemmouri in just 19 seconds. A straight right-hand would knock down the Frenchman before a fierce ground and pound would finish the fight. Talbott is really becoming the hottest prospect in the UFC and it may not be a surprise if he enters the Bantamweight rankings pretty soon.
Charles Jourdain vs Jean Silva (Featherweight Bout) - Silva wins via KO (R2, 1:22).
Despite missing weight, Silva would give the Nevada fans another knockout to go crazy for as a wild uppercut would send Jourdain crashing down to the canvas. The Brazilian now has 10 consecutive wins in his career with nine ending with a stoppage. A big statement win on a PPV event will get Silva's name recognised as many Featherweight will be worried when it comes to the power of his punches.
Cub Swanson vs Andre Fili (Featherweight Bout) - Fili wins via Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28).
In a very close fight between two UFC veterans, Fili would succeed on the judges scorecards as he would just edge a split decision win. Touchy once again redeems another loss while earning his fourth split decision victory in the UFC. The Washington mixed martial artist is still on the hunt to enter the Featherweight rankings as he will look to go on a winning streak for the first time since July 2019.
Joe Pyfer vs Marc-Andre Barriault (Middleweight Bout) - Pyfer wins via KO (R1, 1:25).
It is fair to say that Pyfer made the crowd go frantic at UFC 303 when he knocked out Barriault in the first round. After a few stinging shots, Bodybagz would land a vicious right-hand which would knock down the Canadian before finishing the job with one more punch to knock Barriault out cold. Pyfer is looking for another shot to enter the Middleweight rankings and may have just earned it after a sensational stoppage win.
Main Card
Ian Machado Garry vs Michael Page (Welterweight Bout) - Garry wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
A close Welterweight battle would see Garry stay undefeated in MMA and give MVP his first loss in the UFC. The Future's grappling is what convinced the judges to side with him as rounds one and two were enough for the Irishman to get the victory. The #7 Welterweight contender maintains his ranking and looks destined to get a shot at the world title as he is becoming one of the best in the 170-pound division.
Mayra Bueno Silva vs Macy Chiasson (Women's Bantamweight Bout) - Chiasson wins via TKO/Doctor Stoppage (R2, 1:58).
After a deep cut on the forehead of Bueno Silva, the referee would have no choice but to take the doctor's advice and stop the fight as Chiasson rises up to #3 in the Bantamweight rankings. A vicious elbow whilst on the ground is what would cause the cut of Sheetara, leaving the Brazilian completely vulnerable to the head as Chiasson would only go and search for more damage. Chiasson might just be one fight away before getting an opportunity for UFC Gold.
Anthony Smith vs Roman Dolidze (Light Heavyweight Bout) - Dolidze wins via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).
Dolidze took control of this fight to secure a decision win as his striking and grappling would be no match for Smith. A short-notice win see the Goerguian enter the Light Heavyweight rankings, with him now being top 10 in both the 185 and 205-pound division. It will be Dolidze's choice in terms of what is next, but, he did reveal in the post-fight interview that he would like to take on the undefeated, Khamzat Chimaev.
Dan Ige vs Diego Lopes (Catchweight Bout) - Lopes wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
Ige took this fight on four hours notice to save the Co-Main Event for UFC 303, the shortest noticed fight in UFC history. Lopes would earn the victory after his striking and grappling in the first two rounds would show how good he really is. Both men earned a lot of respect from the MMA community for their short-noticed service. The Brazilian will still hope to get the chance of fighting a high ranked opponent in the Featherweight division with a big more time to prepare.
Alex Pereira vs Jiri Prochazka (Light Heavyweight Title Bout) - Pereira wins via KO (R2, 0:13).
Poatan once again added another knockout to his MMA record, and possibly his best one yet after a head kick would send Prochazka crashing down to the ground before a few strikes would seal the Czech Republican's fate. Pereira did knock down BJP in the last second of the first-round with a left hook which clearly stunned Prochazka, changing the aspect of the fight in the second round. It is unknown what Pereira's next step will be as he will likely defend his title against the #2 Light Heavyweight contender, Magomed Ankalaev, but he could have the opportunity to fight at Heavyweight and become a three-division champion for the first time in UFC history.
