Beterbiev vs Bivol: Two Undefeated Boxers Fight For Undisputed Glory

One of the most anticipating Boxing matches of the year take place in Riyadh as Artur Beterbiev takes on Dmitry Bivol for undisputed Light Heavyweight gold. With a lot at stake in their exciting matchup, here is what you need to know about the two undefeated fighters, before they clash at the Kingdon Arena.

Beterbiev first touched world title glory back in November 2017 when he earned a late 12th-round knockout win over Enrico Koelling, claiming the vacant IBF World Light Heavyweight belt.

The Russian and Canadian professional boxer proved he could stay as champion and showcase a reign of terror after defending his title with two more knockout triumphs, defeating Callum Johnson in the fourth round in Chicago and Radivoje Kalajdzic in the fifth round in Stockton.

The Dagestan-born fighter would soon start a collection on world title when he won the WBC World Light Heavyweight title after beating Oleksandr Gvozdyk, winning by 10th-round TKO.

17 months later, Beterbiev would finally defend both of his belts, defeating Adam Deines by 10th-round TKO in Moscow, followed by a ninth-round knockout victory over Marcus Browne in Montreal.

The 39-year-old would soon become a bigger name in Boxing after earning a second-round TKO win over Joe Smith Jr in Madison Square Garden, claiming the WBO World Light Heavyweight title. Not only would his title win be a big success, but Beterbiev would enter the Men's Pound-For-Pound rankings at #10.

Beterbiev would go on to defend his three world titles two more times, defeating Anthony Yarde by eighth-round TKO and Callum Smith by seventh-round TKO. The undefeated boxer sits with 20 wins, all ending by knockout as he looks to continue his 100% record.

Starting at the same time as Beterbiev's world title success, Bivol was making his journey to win a world championship and made a statement when he knocked out Trent Broadhurst in the first round. 

The Tokmok-born boxer would go on to earn three wins in 2018; defeating Sullivan Barrera by 12th-round TKO at Madison Square Garden, before claiming unanimous decision wins over Isaac Chilemba and Jean Pascal at the Mark G. Etess Arena.

The Russian fighter continued to be the one of the biggest prospects in Boxing after claiming two more unanimous decision wins before COVID-19 occurred. beating Joe Smith Jr and Gilbert Castillo Rivera.

Bivol would go on to make some big statement wins in the Light Heavyweight division, becoming the second professional boxer to defeat Craig Richards, Umar Salamov, and Saul Alvarez, AKA Canelo, which would be a massive shock at the T-Mobile Arena.

After another unanimous decision victory, this time against Gilberto Ramirez in Abu Dhabi, the 33-year-old earned his first world title shot which would take place at the Kingdom Arena. Bivol would become the new IBO World Light Heavyweight Champion after defeating Lyndon Arthur by unanimous decision.

After nine consecutive unanimous decision wins, the undefeated Russian boxer would finally earn a knockout win when he defended his title at the same place he was crowned champion, defeating Malik Zinad by sixth-round TKO. Bivol would eventually see himself at #7 in the Men's Pound-For-Pound rankings, just one spot behind his opponent.
