2024 Australian Darts Masters Preview: Cross Set To Defend Title, Humphries & Littler Make Debuts Down Under

Published on 7 August 2024 at 19:00

Rob Cross will be looking to retain his crown and Luke Littler will be making his darting debut Down Under as the PDC World Series heads to Australian for the 2024 Australian Masters tournament.

The 16 man field in Wollongong will consist of the eight of the PDC’s biggest names, as well as eight Oceanic representatives, including 2010 World Championship finalist Simon Whitlock and current PDC tour card holder Haupai Puha.

The PDC players will be: Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, both making their Australian debuts, defending champion Rob Cross, former World Champions Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith.

Also featured will be Australian no.1 Damon Heta and the reigning UK Open Champion Dimitri Van den Bergh, who are in place of the World Series stalwarts Michael Van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall.

Joining Whitlock and Puha as the Oceania representatives are Brenton Lloyd, Rob Modra, Stuart Coburn, Joe Comito, John Hurring and Jeremy Fagg.

Cross was victorious in Wollongong 12 months ago in last year’s NSW Darts Masters event, crushing Heta 8-1 in the final to scoop another World Series title and the £20,000 grand prize.

‘Voltage’ has been in exceptional form in this year’s World Series events, having won at Madison Square Garden and then reaching the final in the Nordic and Polish events. Can anyone stop him striking once again?
