Nathan Hartley

As we head to the final week of fixtures for the 2022/23 Premier League season, there is still a lot to play for - especially towards the bottom of the table. Here is my team of the season for the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Goalkeeper: Bernd Leno

Not many has Leno in their team of the season. However, the German goalkeeper has been an integral part to Marco Silva's Fulham side finishing 10th in the Premier League. The Cottagers aimed to survive the drop after failing to do so last time they were in the Premier League. However, they excelled, finishing mid table. A huge part of that was because of Leno, as the Fulham goalkeeper saved the highest amount of expected goals out of any goalkeeper in the Premier League.

Right Back: Kieran Trippier

Lots of shocked faces were shown after Kieran Trippier left La Liga champions Atletico Madrid to return to England with Newcastle United. The Magpies had just gone through a takeover, allowing them to make lots of high profile signings with a flow of cash coming into the club. Trippier was on the cheaper side of signings. However, the English fullback has been an integral part to how Newcastle play, providing many assists and goals from set pieces. Newcastle will now be playing Champions League football next season after an impressive campaign.

Centre Back: Sven Botman

Botman arrived to Newcastle in the summer after lots of back and forth with agreeing a deal with Lille. However, the Magpies managed to sign the Dutch international for £32.2 million and what a signing he turned out to be. Newcastle go into the final game of the season joint-best in terms of conceding the fewest amount of goals along with Manchester City with 32 goals. The 23-year-old was a crucial part to Newcastle's defensive success.

Centre Back: William Saliba

Although Arsenal have not won the league after leading for the majority of the season, Saliba deserves a lot of credit for what he did throughout the season. The French international had been out on loan to Marseille last season, seriously impressing in Ligue 1. This was enough for the Frenchman to start for the Gunners this season. He was a colossal part to Arsenal's title charge. However, the 22-year-old got injured during the latter part of the season, hampering the Gunners' title hopes. The team tried to replace Saliba with Holding and Kiwior. However, they were no match with Saliba and ultimately lost the title.

Left Back: Pervis Estupinan

Brighton has enjoyed a successful season, qualifying for next year's Europa League, finishing sixth in the Premier League. The Seagulls had many high performers with Estupinan being one of them. The Colombian International worked brilliantly with Japanese international Mitoma, creating many chances for the Seagulls to score.

Defensive Midfielder: Rodri

You may be wondering about where all of the Manchester City players are in this team. But here we are with Rodri, who has been as consistent as ever once again. The Spaniard is described to be a 'Rolls Royce' of a player, keeping everything simple and keeping the team ticking. If you watch a game, you may not notice him. However, he is a crucial part as to the way Manchester City are able to build up and create chances.

Attacking Midfielder: Martin Odegaard

Odegaard was once considered as a 'wonderkid' during the Norwegian's time at Real Madrid from a very young age. However, it would not properly work out for him at the Spanish capital. The 24-year-old initially went on loan to Arsenal in 2021, then signing permanently with the Gunners. This season as shown why Arsenal were desperate to sign the 24-year-old. He was an integral part to the Gunners scoring 83 goals this season.

Attacking Midfielder: Kevin De Bruyne

What do I need to say about this man? Yet again having another stellar season with Manchester City. The Belgian has the most assists this season with 16 - 4 more than any other player. The 31-year-old has had the joy of assisting Erling Haaland this season, which the Belgian will hope propel the team to win their first ever Champions League trophy.

Right Forward: Bukayo Saka

The English right forward has endured a successful individual season with Arsenal. The 21-year-old has been a crucial part to Arsenal's attack, providing 13 goals and 11 assists in definitely his best season in his career thus far. Despite missing a crucial penalty again West Ham, the English international has had an outstanding season.

Striker: Harry Kane

Despite not having a good season with Tottenham, Kane has still be a standout in the Spurs team. The Englishman has scored an impressive 28 goals this season with many brilliant performances in a lacklustre team. With him not winning any titles despite his impressive individual performances, will he leave Tottenham at the end of this season?

Striker: Erling Haaland

The most obvious player in this team of the season is Erling Haaland. Often described as the 'Robot', the Norwegian has had a record-breaking season in the Premier League, scoring 36 goals this season going into the final game of the season. The Manchester City player has won the Premier League's Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season, unsurprisingly. The 22-year-old is still trying to break Everton player's Dixie Dean's record of the most amount of goals during an English season in all competitions. Will Haaland be able to break it?
