FM24 was released on November 6, 2023, with many football clubs commending the scouting ability of the game and its ability to judge the ability of players.
Everton have struggled in recent years as they have battled relegation, particularly due to the standard of their squad that they have assembled. However, Sean Dyche looks to be turning things around slowly. So, who do Sports Interactive rate as the best five players at Everton in FM24?
Entering the list at fifth is Beto. The striker acquired from Udinese in the summer has performed reasonably well since joining the Toffees and has demonstrated his physical presence on the pitch. With a rating of 71, he is not rated spectacularly and is seen as a useful player in the game, but he will not set the world alight unless his physical attributes are utilised.
Next on the list is Idrissa Gueye. A couple of years ago, he was arguably the best player at Goodison before his move to Paris Saint-Germain, but since he has returned to Merseyside, his form has been patchy. No doubt there is still talent and ability within Gueye, but as he has gotten older, the ability to protect the defence single-handedly has waned, resulting in a rating of 72.
Third on the list is English number one. Jordan Pickford may feel that his rating should be better since the poor performances by Everton in recent years have not been his fault. The Mackem has performed on many occasions for England and Everton, allowing them to secure points they never should have, like in the game at Bramhall Lane earlier in the season. Pickford will feel his rating should be higher than 75 for all the qualities he possesses with his shot-stopping and distribution.
Coming in as the second-best player at Everton, according to FM24, is Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The English striker may feel that the impact he has for the club, his ability to finish chances, and the presence he has upfront should see him rated higher in the game and also rank as the best player at the club, but he has been piped. With a rating of 75, Calvert-Lewin will feel that the constant battle with injuries has hindered his FM24 rating.
Arnaut Danjuma tops the list, an unlikely player to do so in the eyes of many Evertonians. The Dutch player demonstrated his impressive ability while playing for Villareal in Spain, helping them reach a Champions League semi-final while at the club. This brought him to the attention of Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, with the London side securing his signature in the winter of 2023. However, he struggled in his time at Spurs, moving to Merseyside in the summer on loan from Spain. The rating of 76 will be due to his ability to stretch the game, finish chances, and the incredible way he can isolate and embarrass fullbacks.
