Top 5 Premier League Strikers So Far This Season

Published on 19 November 2023 at 20:00

In a Premier League campaign, the importance of a paramount striker can be the margin between domestic success and failure. With the league slowly becoming over-saturated with world class forwards, the ability to pinpoint strikers that stand out amongst their competition is becoming increasingly difficult.

Of course, transfer market value is beginning to set unrealistic standards and expectations for strikers managing to perform well within their field. The rising price tag attached to star players from all around the world is undoubtedly adding high levels of pressure to strikers, which inadvertently is helping to highlight the best of their nature. So, without further ado, here are five of the most incredible Premier League strikers so far in the 23/24 season.

5. Darwin Núñez

Starving to develop his natural flair and talent, Liverpool’s Uruguayan forward has greatly increased his ability to place a ball in the back of the net, following his hot and cold debut season with the Reds’. Proving how crucial he is to the squad; Darwin Nunez continues to seek his place as Jurgen Klopp’s title challenging striker.

While still not making most of his chances conclusive, the beloved striker’s trajectory is clearly on the path to glory.

4. Evan Ferguson

Registering an impressive 141 minutes per goal so far this season, Brighton’s young striker has captured the attention of football fans around the world. Showcasing talent and excellence within most of his domestic and European appearances, the young Irishman is a scary prospect for the future of the league. With comparisons to footballing legends like Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen, the 19-year-old has earnt his place on our list.

3. Alexander Isak

After making his way to the magpies for a whopping £63m, Newcastle’s electrifying striker has earned the right to flaunt his price tag following an athletically outstanding 22/23 campaign for Eddie Howe’s side. Carrying last season's talent into the current campaign, consistency has proven to be key for Isak.

While currently plagued by injury issues, the Swedish striker has managed to bag six goals in eight appearances so far this season, serving as a warning for his inevitable return from injury to St James Park.

2. Son Heung Min

A prime example of new Tottenham gaffer Ange Postecoglou’s high pressing tactics, Premier League icon Son Heung Min has been revolutionized on the pitch, and it’s clear as day when the ball is at his feet. Bagging eight goals so far in his Premier League campaign, the South Korean’s G/A tally, while impressive, is not as crucial as his ability to create chances and play the ball forward into areas of danger.

Settling into a brand-new role – the 31-year-old appears like a prospect in the league, despite being a seasoned veteran for Tottenham; a perfect indication of how well he is currently thriving.

1. Erling Haaland

Of course, earning the number one spot on the list is Manchester City’s monstrous Erling Haaland. Not much needs to be said for the ‘Norwegian Robot’ who finished runner up in this year’s Ballon D’or ceremony. Flaunting a jaw dropping 78 minutes per goal so far this season, the record-breaking striker continues to set unrealistic standards for aspiring players. With 16 G/A in 12 league appearances, Haaland shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.

While impossible to make such a definitive list so early in the season, it’s safe to say the facts speak for themselves. What does your list look like?
