Miami Grand Prix Preview

Published on 2 May 2024 at 16:00

This weekend we will see all ten teams flying out to Miami Florida, for their third season at the Miami International Autodrome.

But can anyone beat Red Bull's Max Verstappen to finish first after two seasons in a row?

Verstappen has won four out of five races this season so could this be his fifth victory  to win an extra 25 points to take him to 135 points in the drivers standings?

Here's a quick rundown of what's in store round six of the 2024 season.

This year we will see a sprint race alongside the actual race on Sunday.

The sprint race is a short race lasting 30 minutes which covers 100km of track. Two of the practice sessions are replaced and a 'Sprint Qualifying' sets the grid for the Sprint. This replaces FP3 on Saturday before the normal qualifying session later in the day.

Miami International Autodrome has 57 laps across a track length of 5.412km.

The first Grand Prix was entered in 2022 being the second US race on the calendar before the introduction to the Las Vegas GP in 2023.

The first year we saw a podium of Max Verstappen (P1), Charles Leclerc (P2) and Carlos Sainz Jr. (P3).

The second year, Verstappen took victory again but we had two new faces joining him with Sergio Perez (P2) and Fernando Alonso (P3).

Here is the weekend schedule.

• Practice 1 - May 3 - 17:30

• Sprint Qualifying - May 3 - 21:30

• Sprint - May 4 - 17:00

• Qualifying - May 4 - 21:00

• Race - May 5 - 21:00
