We are back at Canada for this weekend's Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for round nine of the Formula One 2024 season, here's a quick preview of what we can expect from this Sunday.
The first race at the circuit was hosted back in 1978 where Gilles Villeneuve won his first F1 win thus the track being names after him.
70 laps of an action packed race to come with lots of chicanes which will really test the brakes of the cars and their drivers.
The iconic Wall of Champions at the end of the lap named after excursions into from legends such as Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher during the 1999 season.
4.361km in length and a race distance of 305.27km with two DRS detection zones in the first two sectors of the circuit.
Kick Sauber's Valtteri Bottas currently holds the fastest lap record for a time of 1m 13.078s when he was driving with Mercedes in 2019 alongside Lewis Hamilton.
Speaking of Hamilton, he currently holds the most wins (7) alongside seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher who both also have the most pole positions too.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen has won the last two races here aswell as the last two pole positions. He led last year's race in front of Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso by over nine seconds with Hamilton a huge 14 seconds behind him.
McLaren and Ferrari will be out in full force this weekend hoping to challenge Red Bull after their dominant start to the beginning of the season. After Lando Norris beat Max Verstappen out in Miami and Charles Leclerc out in Monaco where he took first place on home soil.
All three teams will be putting up a great fight not just for the finish line but also for those important championship points. Red Bull are currently first in the Drivers Championship with 276 points, 24 points infront of Ferrari in second place with 252 and McLaren not far behind in third with 184 points.
Can anyone beat Verstappen this year for a pole position and possibly a first place finish?
