UFC 310 Preview

The T-Mobile Arena is back to host the last UFC PPV event of 2024 as it provides plenty of action in Las Vegas. The Main Event sees Alexandre Pantoja defend his UFC Flyweight Championship against debutant, Kai Asakura. The Co-Main Event showcases a Welterweight battle between two undefeated fighters as the #3 contender, Shavkat Rakhmonov, takes on the #7 contender, Ian Machado Garry. Here is everything you need to know before UFC 310 commences.

Early Prelims

Kennedy Nzechukwu vs Lukasz Brzeski (UFC Heavyweight Bout) - Nzechuwku made his Heavyweight debut in his last fight, defeating Chris Barnett by first-round TKO at UFC 304. The African Savage has won the majority of his MMA bouts by knockout, earning nine KO/TKO victories. The Nigerian fighter has taken the fight on short notice, but could put the division on notice if he stops his opponent.

Brzeski suffered his fourth loss of his UFC career after losing to Mick Parkin by first-round knockout at UFC 304. The Bull is very similar to his opponent, making himself a knockout artist with most of his wins ending by KO/TKO. The Polish mixed martial artist is at real risk of being cut from the UFC, only winning one in five fights, so Brzeski will be desperate to be victorious.

 

Clay Guida vs Chase Hooper (UFC Lightweight Bout) - Guida has the second most fights in UFC Lightweight history, but could not be successful in his last fight when he lost to Joaquim Silva by unanimous decision at UFC Austin. The Carpenter has earned 38 victories in MMA with six ending by KO/TKO and 15 by submission. The Illinois fighter is still battling, nearly reaching the age of 43, and will aim to get his first win since December 2022.

Hooper is currently on a three-fight winning streak after defeating Viacheslav Borshchev by second-round submission at UFC St Louis. The Dream has 11 finishes out of 14 MMA wins, earning four of his victories by KO/TKO and seven by submission. The Washington Lightweight is looking to be an interesting prospect in the division and a win against a veteran in the UFC could put him close to the 155-pound rankings.

 

Michael Chiesa vs Max Griffin (UFC Welterweight Bout) - Chiesa broke his three-fight losing streak after defeating Tony Ferguson by first-round submission at UFC Abu Dhabi. The Maverick is a deadly submission artist in MMA, winning 12 of his 19 fights by tapping out or submitting his opponent. The former Welterweight contender aims to begin another winning streak in his career and tries to impress the Nevada fans with another stoppage win.

Griffin redeemed himself in his last bout when he narrowly defeated Jeremiah Wells by split decision at UFC Vegas 86. The Californian has won the majority of his fight by knockout, earning nine KO/TKO victories in 20 MMA glorious battles. Griffin has fought experienced fighters such as; Colby Covington, Carlos Condit and Neil Magny as he tries to take down a long-serving UFC fighter.

 

Cody Durden vs Joshua Van (UFC Flyweight Bout) - Durden got back to winning ways when he submitted Matt Schnell in the second round at UFC Vegas 97. Custom Made is dangerous both on the feet and ground, earning six submission and KO/TKO victories out of 17 career wins. The #14 Flyweight contender will be wanting to maintain his ranking and begin his second winning streak in the UFC. 

Van earned redemption after his first knockout loss, defeating Edgar Chairez by unanimous decision at UFC 306. The Fearless has stopped eight of his 11 conquered opponents in MMA, defeating six of them by KO/TKO and two by submission. The Hakha-born fighter will be fighting for the fourth time in 2024 as he tries to end the year on a high and enter the Flyweight rankings.

 

Chris Weidman vs Eryk Anders (UFC Catchweight Bout) - Weidman earned his first MMA win since August 2020 when he defeated Bruno Silva by unanimous decision at UFC Atlantic City. The All-American has not had a stoppage win in a very long time, but has been known to finish his opponents, defeating six of those by KO/TKO and four by submission. The former UFC Middleweight Champion has had quite the downfall since he lost the title, but he still commits to not giving up at the age of 40.

Anders last fought at UFC Vegas 87 where he secured an unanimous decision win over Jamie Pickett. Ya Boi has won most of his battles by knockout, earning nine KO/TKO wins out of 16 MMA triumphs. The Philippines-born mixed martial artist has only faced one former UFC Champion in his career, Lyoto Machida, as he aims to bring success at UFC 310.

 

Preliminary Card

Randy Brown vs Bryan Battle (UFC Welterweight Bout) - Brown makes his third UFC appearance of 2024 after defeating Muslim Salikhov by first-round knockout at UFC Vegas 85 and Elizeu Zaleski Dos Santos by unanimous decision at UFC 302. Rudeboy can stop a fight on the feet or ground, with seven of his 19 wins ending by KO/TKO and five by submission. The Jamaican will be aiming to increase his winning streak to four and put himself one step away from the Welterweight rankings.

Battle is currently on a four-fight unbeaten streak with his last bout ending by second-round TKO against Kevin Jousset at UFC Paris. The Butcher rarely goes the distance with his opponents as he has stopped four by KO/TKO and six by submission. The North Carolina-born fighter has only lost once in the UFC and is becoming a bigger prospect in the 170-pound division as a win could put him very close to the Welterweight rankings.

 

Movsar Evloev vs Aljamain Sterling (UFC Bantamweight Bout) - Evloev last fought at UFC 297 where he did just enough to defeat Arnold Allen by unanimous decision. The Russian is undefeated with 18 wins with only seven finishes in MMA, as well as that, he has only won by decision in his UFC career. The #5 Featherweight contender is looking to close in on a title shot and will want to beat his opponent convincingly in order to earn that opportunity.

Sterling made his Featherweight debut in his last fight when he defeated Calvin Kattar by unanimous decision at UFC 300. Funk Master prefers to stop his opponents by submission, defeating eight of his 24 conquered fighters by tapping or choking them out. The #9 Featherweight contender is trying to become a two-division champion in the UFC and he can achieve this if he can boost up the rankings with a victory.

 

Vicente Luque vs Themba Gorimbo (UFC Welterweight Bout) - Luque suffered his second knockout loss in MMA when Joaquin Buckley defeated him by second-round TKO at UFC Atlantic City. The Silent Assassin very rarely goes to the judges scorecards, stopping 11 of his opponents by KO/TKO and eight by submission. The #14 Welterweight contender has only won once in his last four fights as he tries to redeem himself again and maintain his ranking in the 170-pound division.

Gorimbo is on a four-fight winning streak after defeating Niko Price by unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 98. The Answer is better known for earning submission wins, claiming six, but has occasionally won by knockout, earning two KO/TKO victories. The Zimbabwe mixed martial artist fights the fourth time this year and looks to keep his 100% winning record in 2024 and enter the Welterweight rankings.

 

Dominick Reyes vs Anthony Smith (UFC Light Heavyweight Bout) - Reyes redeemed his four-fight losing streak with a first-round knockout win over Dustin Jacoby at UFC Louisville. The Devastator has defeated the majority of his opponents by knockout, earning eight KO/TKO wins. The #12 Light Heavyweight contender will be aiming to stay on track and continue his good fortune in the UFC with another win.

Smith last fought at UFC 303 where he would lose to Roman Dolidze by unanimous decision. Lionheart does not like to go the distance as out of the 38 victories he has earned in MMA, 20 have been defeated by KO/TKO and 15 by submission. The #13 Light Heavyweight contender will try to earn redemption at the T-Mobile Arena as he has the chance to move up one spot in the 205-pound rankings.

 

Main Card

Nate Landwehr vs Choi Doo-ho (UFC Featherweight Bout) - Landwehr got his redemption from UFC 289 when he defeated Jamall Emmers by first-round knockout at UFC Atlantic City. With 18 wins in his MMA career, Nate The Train has defeated half of his conquered opponents by KO/TKO. The Clarksville-born fighter has won four of his last five fights and will try to begin his second winning streak in the UFC.

Choi earned his first win since July 2016 when he defeated Bill Algeo by second-round TKO at UFC Vegas 94. The Korean Superboy is a dangerous knockout artist with 12 of his 15 wins ending by KO/TKO with seven ending in the first round. The UFC Fight Wing Hall of Famer is looking to earn another knockout win in the Featherweight division and continue his success in MMA.

 

Bryce Mitchell vs Kron Gracie (UFC Featherweight Bout) - Mitchell suffered his first knockout defeat of his career when he lost to Josh Emmett by first-round KO at UFC 296. Thug Nasty is a submission specialist with nine of his 16 victories ending by tapping or choking out his opponent. The #13 Featherweight contender will be making sure he maintain his ranking and get back to winning ways after the brutal ending of his last fight.

Gracie has been unfortunate in his last two fights in the UFC, losing by unanimous decision to Cub Swanson at UFC Tampa and Charles Jourdain at UFC 288. The Brazilian is a deadly submission artist with all five of his wins ending by submission, with one of those happening in the UFC. The Rio de Janeiro Featherweight not only has the opportunity to redeem himself, but enter the 145-pound rankings.

 

Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov (UFC Heavyweight Bout) - Gane last fought back in September 2023 when he stopped Serghei Spivac by second-round TKO at UFC Paris. Bon Gamin has finished nine of his 12 opponents, six of those have ended by KO/TKO and three by submission. The #2 Heavyweight contender is key to put himself back in title contention and could do that if he is successful at UFC 310.

Volkov is currently on a four-fight winning streak after defeating Sergei Pavlovich by unanimous decision in his last fight at UFC Saudi Arabia. With 38 wins, Drago has stopped 28 of them with 24 by KO/TKO and four by submission. The #3 Heavyweight contender is within clinching distance of earning his first UFC title shot as he looks to put a big statement win and get revenge in his rematch against Gane.

 

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs Ian Machado Garry (UFC Welterweight Bout) - Rakhmonov remains to be undefeated after becoming the first man to submit Stephen Thompson, stopping him in the second round at UFC 296. Nomad has stopped every opponent he has faced, defeating eight of them by KO/TKO and 10 by submission. The #3 Welterweight contender was originally meant to face the champion, Belal Muhammad, but he still has the chance if he can be the first stop Garry.

Garry also remains undefeated in MMA after he secured an unanimous decision win over Michael Page at UFC 303. The Future prefers to knock his opponents out, earning seven KO/TKO victories as well as getting the one submission win in his career. The #7 Welterweight contender has the biggest opportunity of his career to defeat one of the most feared Welterweights and become the next title challenger.

 

Alexandre Pantoja vs Kai Asakura (UFC Flyweight Title Bout) - Pantoja successfully defended his Flyweight title for the second time when he defeated Steve Erceg by unanimous decision at UFC 301. The Cannibal has yet to be stopped in his career and has stopped 18 of his 28 conquered opponents, defeating eight of those by KO/TKO and 10 by submission. The King of the Flyweights faces an unknown opponent, but will aim to continue his title reign.

Asakura makes his UFC debut with a chance to win the Flyweight belt with his last fight ending by second-round TKO against Juan Archeluta at Rizin FF 45, claiming the Bantamweight championship. The Japanese fighter is noticed for his knockouts, securing 13 of his 21 wins by KO/TKO while earning three submission wins. The Aichi-born fighter has the chance to become the first fighter to win a UFC title in his first bout with the promotion as he takes on one of the toughest Flyweights in MMA history.
