FPL - Players to consider after GW1

Published on 20 August 2024 at 20:00

The opening weekend of the Premier League is now complete, with none other than Mo Salah being the best performer of the week. In FPL terms, the first round of fixtures gives us an idea of who's playing well, how teams will set up and what new signings are nailed on to start. So without further ado, let's take a look at five players to consider for your FPL team after gameweek one, who you may have overlooked before...

Kaoru Mitoma - £6.5m

Perhaps because of his lengthy injury last season, only 3.4% of FPL players own Mitoma. Despite this, the Japanese winger looked back to his best against Everton, getting the first goal of three in a comfortable victory for The Seagulls. In seasons gone by, Mitoma has been a reliable asset for goals and assists, so expect this year to be no different.

Dominic Solanke - £7.5m

Despite not getting a return against Leicester, Solanke looks as if he's going to be the main man up front for Spurs this season. It is understandable for FPL players to have reservations about new signings, particularly strikers, but if the former Bournemouth man can stay fit he could score 20+ goals easily in this exciting, attacking Spurs team.

Yoann Wissa - £6.0m

With Ivan Toney looking set for a move to Saudi Arabia, you wouldn't bet against Wissa becoming Brentford's first choice striker this season. He bagged a goal and an assist for The Bees in their 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace. With an ownership of only 3.4%, Wissa should definitely be someone to keep an eye on as a budget differential.

Jacob Greaves - £4.0m

Brighton's Valentin Barco was the most popular choice of £4.0m defenders, however he didn't start for Brighton and is set for a price decrease due to his high ownership percentage. Instead, Ipswich's Greaves looks like a better option. The 23 year old defender looked impressive against Liverpool and could also be an attacking threat from set pieces for The Tractor Boys.

Antoine Semenyo - £5.5m

After losing Solanke, it must be worrying for Bournemouth fans where their goals are going to come from this year, however in Semenyo, they have a consistent goal threat. Last season, the Ghanian was a great budget striker but is now listed as a midfielder, always a bonus in FPL terms. With an ownership of only 1.4%, he's definitely one to look out for as a differential.
