FPL - A good week for the premiums

On the day that Oasis announced their reunion, many FPL players will be looking back in anger at GW2, if they didn’t own Haaland, Palmer or Salah. Whatever happens, surely you’ll need a masterplan to get these assets in your team, or you could find yourself crying your heart out by the end of the season.

Some might say that Erling Haaland is a FPL essential after his hat trick against Ipswich. The Norwegian striker took home the match ball for the seventh time in his Premier League career. At £15m, he’s understandably the most expensive player this season, but you know you’ll be guaranteed returns.

The second most expensive player, Mo Salah has also had a dream start to the season. The Egyptian added to his goal and assist against Ipswich on GW1 with a goal against Brentford at the weekend. This means after two weeks there’s nothing to separate Salah and Haaland as they both currently sit on 24 points overall. It’ll be an interesting battle to see who’ll be leading the points tally come May.

Despite the loss of their very own Gallagher to Atletico Madrid, Chelsea looked back to their best against Wolves on Sunday. Cole Palmer had a tough start to the season against his old team, Manchester City, but the young winger bagged a goal and three assists at Molineux. With Chelsea’s upcoming decent run of fixtures and Palmer looking back to his best, is he now an FPL essential?

With cheap enablers in good form such as Joao Pedro, Emile Smith-Rowe and Morgan Rogers, it may now be possible to have a functioning team with Haaland, Salah and Palmer in them. However, with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Heung-min Son also looking at their best, FPL managers really need to be looking to have at least three of these five in their starting XI to ensure they don't slide away down their table. D’you know what I mean?
